Iran’s Ministry of Intelligence in Baneh, Kurdistan province, has summoned admins of several Telegram channels and threatened them over publishing news on the murder of a Kurdish kolbar by border forces.

On 4 November, Iranian border guards opened fire on a group of kolbars and killed a young man named Mohammad Khodaei in the border areas near the Kani Seif village of Baneh.

Following the incident, admins of the Telegram channels Baneh News, Baneh 24, and ‘Prsa u Sarakhoshiakani Baneh’ – a channel that mainly publishes information on the deaths and funerals of residents of Baneh – published the news on their channels.

Reportedly, interrogators of the intelligence ministry summoned the admins of these channels and forced them to remove the report from their social media.

Interrogators have warned the city’s Telegram channel admins that they have no right to spread the news on the deaths of kolbars.
