Four Kurdish activists detained during the funeral of the executed Kurdish political prisoner Heydar Ghorbani have been released on bail in recent days.

Security forces had detained Mohammad Mirza Rahmani, a Kurdish cleric, and civil rights activists Sirvan Ghorbani, Amanj Ghorbani, and Borhan Kamangar in Kamyaran, Kurdistan province.

The activists were then taken to the detention centre of the Ministry of Intelligence in Sanandaj, Kurdistan province.

In the past few days, Rahmani and Amanj Ghorbani were transferred to the Sanandaj Central Prison while Kamangar and Sirvan Ghorbani were taken to Kamyaran Prison.

Rahmani and Amanj Ghorbani were arrested on 21 and 22 December, respectively, after being summoned to the office of the intelligence ministry in Kamyaran.

Security forces arrested Kamangar and Sirvan Ghorbani on the streets of Kamyaran on 23 December.

Iran secretly carried out the death sentence of the Kurdish political prisoner Heydar Ghorbani in Sanandaj Central Prison on 19 December.

Although the intelligence ministry had threatened the political prisoner’s family and a large number of security forces were present near his house, his funeral was held for several days with the presence of hundreds of civilians.
