Civil rights and environmental activists Iraj Rahimzadeh and Rebwar Mahmoudi, who were detained by security forces in Marivan in Kurdistan province in the past few weeks, are still being held in custody.

In a brief phone call with his family in recent days, Rahimzadeh said that security interrogators were pressuring him to make forced confessions.

Security forces arrested Rahimzadeh at his family home in Marivan on 28 May.

Separately, security forces arrested Mahmoudi on 17 June in a town in Marivan.

Reportedly, the Marivan court investigator issued a 25-day temporary detention order for the activist.

The two activists are denied the right to a lawyer and to receive family visits.
