A Kurdish cleric named Younes Nowkhah, who was detained for criticising the government, has been released on bail from Orumiyeh Central Prison on 25 July.

On 7 July, Iranian security forces detained Nowkhah, a teacher at the Salahuddin Ayoubi School of Religious Studies in Piranshahr, West Azerbaijan province.

The cleric was then taken to the detention centre of the Ministry of Intelligence in Orumiyeh, West Azerbaijan province.

On 23 July, after his interrogation ended, he was transferred to Orumiyeh Central Prison.

On 12 July, a group of Kurdish clerics gathered in front of the office of the Grand Islamic Centre of Piranshahr and demanded Nowkhah’s immediate release.
