The detained members of the Board of Directors of the Kurdistan-Marivan Teachers’ Union, Shaban Mohammadi and Masoud Nikkhah were temporarily released on 20 August from Tehran’s Evin prison on a bail of 2 billion Iranian Tomans – nearly 62,500 USD.

Earlier on 17 August, Eskandar (Soran) Lotfi, the spokesperson of the Coordinating Council of Iranian Educators’ Trade Union and a member of the board of directors of the Kurdistan-Marivan Teachers’ Union, was temporarily released from Tehran’s Evin prison on a heavy bail of 2 billion Tomans.

Security forces arrested Mohammadi, Nikkhah, and Lotfi in Marivan, Kurdistan province, on 1 May.

Mohammadi was released after several hours of interrogation, but Lotfi and Nikkhah were transferred to a security detention centre in Sanandaj, Kurdistan province, for interrogation.

On 11 May, Nikkhah was released from Marivan prison but was arrested again the next day.

Also, on 11 May, security forces arrested Mohammadi once again in Marivan.

After some time, the activists were transferred from the detention centre of the Ministry of Intelligence in Sanandaj to one of the security cells of Evin Prison in Tehran.

In a short phone call in mid-July, Mohammadi said he had been taken from Ward 209 of Tehran’s Evin Prison to the prison’s ordinary ward.
