Iranian authorities in Sanandaj, Kurdistan province, have extended the temporary detention of a civil rights activist named Baran Saedi for 10 days.

Security forces arrested Saedi at her home in Sanandaj on 20 September.

They then took her to the Juvenile Detention Centre of Sanandaj.

Since then, she was taken to the detention facility of the Ministry of Intelligence many times for interrogation.

Security interrogators pressured and threatened Saedi to make forced confessions due to the membership of one of her children in a Kurdish opposition party.

This activist is suffering from diabetes and heart problems. During this period she has faced difficulties in receiving her medicine.

Since her detention, Saedi has been denied the right to have a lawyer and receive family visits.
