The Branch One of the Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor’s Office in Sahneh, western Iran, has issued a legal summons for Yarsani activists Seyyed Amin Abbasi, Seyyed Karam Abbasi, and Seyyed Soroush Abbasi to submit their final defences at the court.

The three brothers were charged with “assembly and collusion to commit a crime against national security”.

According to the subpoena, the Prosecutor’s Office gave the activists five days to present their final defence.

On 30 November 2022, the Intelligence Organisation of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) beat and arrested Seyyed Soroush Abbasi, Seyyed Amin Abbasi and five other activists, Siavash Hayati, Kaki Farzad Almasi, Ali Nazari, Mohammad Ghabouli and Rouzbeh Hayati, on their way back from Sahneh to Kermanshah.

The activists had travelled to Sahneh to meet the people freed on the 21st anniversary of the commemoration of Seyed Khalil Alinezhad, a famous artist and one of the leaders of the Yarsan community.

In addition, on 1 December 2022, the IRGC intelligence agents arrested Seyyed Karam Abbasi in Sahneh and transferred him to a detention facility in Kermanshah.

After initial interrogations at the detention centre of the IRGC’s intelligence organisation, the three brothers were transferred to Dizel Abad Prison in Kermanshah on 17 December 2022.

They were released on bail from prison on 2 January.

In addition, during the 21st anniversary of the commemoration of Seyed Khalil Alinezhad in Sahneh, which turned into protests, the military-security forces attacked and arrested many others.
