Iranian security forces opened fire on a group of kolbars in the Hangeh-ye Zhal border area in Baneh, Kurdistan Province, on 13 August, killing kolbar Arsalan Rasouli.
The Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN) has learned that the kolbars were shot at from a close range and without prior warning.
The body of the 29-year-old kolbar from Nalas in Sardasht, West Azerbaijan Province, was taken to Salahuddin Ayoubi Hospital in Baneh and has not been returned to his family.
According to the statistics collected by KHRN, In July, at least 14 kolbars were shot by Iranian border guards in the country’s western border areas. Of these, one was killed and 13 were injured.
In addition, in July, one kolbar was beaten by border forces and one was injured falling from a height.
