The Intelligence Organisation of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) arrested Reza Babrnezhad, the brother of Mehdi Babrnezhad, who was killed during the Woman, Life, Freedom uprising in Quchan, Razavi Khorasan Province.
Babrnezhad was arrested without a warrant after IRGC intelligence agents raided his house on 11 August.
During the raid, security forces reportedly broke windows and confiscated Babrnezhad’s personal belongings.
The charges brought against Babrnezhad and his current whereabouts remain unknown.
Mehdi Babrnezhad, a 22-year-old Kurdish civilian from Quchan, was killed by security forces during the anti-government protests on 21 September 2022.
His body was returned to his family three days later after they signed a written undertaking. His burial took place in the village of Shah Rag in Quchan in the presence of a large number of security forces.
