Iranian border guards today shot dead Farid Vatani-Rasoul, a 34-year-old kolbar, in the Darrevaran border area in Marivan, Kurdistan Province.

The Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN) has learned that the forces opened fire on the kolbar at close range and without warning.

They reportedly aimed directly at Vatani-Rasoul’s head, causing his immediate death.

Vatani-Rasoul was a father of three from the village of Neshkash in Marivan.

According to statistics compiled by KHRN, at least two kolbars were killed and 10 others were injured in the country’s western border areas in September.

Of these kolbars, two were killed and eight were injured by gunfire from Iranian border guards, one was injured after he was beaten by border guards and another by a landmine explosion.
