Kurdish political prisoner Salah Rahmani was arrested by security forces in Sanandaj, Kurdistan Province, on 14 November and taken to an undisclosed location.

The Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN) has learned that at 05:00 local time on 14 November, security forces raided Rahmani’s family home in the village of Chashmiyar in Sanandaj and arrested the civilian without a judicial warrant.

The charges against Rahmani and the location of his current detention remain unknown.

In 2014, Rahmani was interrogated for approximately five months in the detention facilities of the Ministry of Intelligence and the Intelligence Organisation of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). After five months, he was released on bail.

Later, the Islamic Revolutionary Court of Sanandaj sentenced him to two years in prison on charges of “acting against national security” through “membership of a Kurdish opposition party”.

In 2016, he was detained to serve his sentence and was released from Sanandaj Central Prison after serving his two-year sentence in 2017.
