The fate of Kurdish civilian Shahram Ranjbar, who was arrested by security forces in a raid on his home on 22 January, remains unknown.

Security forces raided Ranjbar’s home in the village of Gavmish Goli in Miandoab, West Azerbaijan Province, and arrested him without a warrant.

The Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN) has learned that despite the family’s efforts to obtain information from local authorities in Miandoab, details of his whereabouts and the specific charges against him remain unknown.

According to KHRN, between 21 December and 21 January, at least 45 Kurdish civilians and activists were arrested on political charges in various cities in Kurdistan, Kermanshah, Ilam and West Azerbaijan provinces. While some have been temporarily released on bail, others remain in detention and the fate of several remains unknown. In particular, fourteen prisoners were transferred to prison to serve their sentences.
