Two kolbars were seriously injured and hospitalised by Iranian border guards in the border areas of Nowsud, Kermanshah Province, and Hangeh-ye Zhal, Baneh, Kurdistan Province, in the past two days.

Jabbar Veysi, from the village of Jujar in Salas-e Babajani, Kermanshah Province, was targeted with shotgun pellets in Nowsud on the night of 29 January.

Veysi, who was shot at close range and suffered serious head injuries, is currently receiving treatment in the intensive care unit of Taleghani Hospital in Kermanshah, Kermanshah Province.

Similarly, Behnam Sharifian, a 30-year-old kolbar from Saqqez, Kurdistan Province, was arrested in Hangeh-ye Zhal on 30 January and severely beaten with rifle butts, leaving him with serious injuries to his legs, back and waist.

Sharifian is now receiving medical treatment at the Salahuddin Ayoubi Hospital in Baneh.
