Mardin Amini, a 14-year-old child kolbar from Bukan, West Azerbaijan Province, was injured by gunfire from Iranian border guards in the Hangeh-ye Zhal border area of Baneh, Kurdistan Province, on 30 January.

The Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN) has learned that Amini was shot in the leg when a group of kolbars in Hangeh-ye Zhal came under close fire from Iranian border guards without warning.

The 14-year-old child was subsequently taken to a medical facility in Baneh for treatment.

According to data compiled by the KHRN, in January, at least five kolbars were shot dead by Iranian border guards and one by Iraqi border guards in the western border areas of the country.

Additionally, a total of 45 kolbars were injured during this period. Of these, 32 were shot by Iranian border guards, five were injured in a road accident, two were beaten by Iranian border guards, two 16-year-old kolbars were injured after being hit by stones thrown at them by border guards, two were beaten by the border guards, one was shot by Iraqi border guards and one was beaten by border guards.
