Iranian border guards opened fire at close range on a group of kolbars without warning in the border area of Nowsud, Kermanshah Province, on 2 February, wounding kolbar Kouhsar Rostamnezhad.

Kouhsar Rostamnezhad, from the village of Shamshir in Paveh, Kermanshah Province, was seriously wounded in the head and taken to Taleghani Hospital in Kermanshah, Kermanshah Province, where doctors recommended further treatment at a medical centre in Tehran due to the severity of his injuries.

Over the past year, Rostamnezhad’s two other brothers, Fardin and Farshad, were also injured by border guards’ gunfire in Nowsud.

On 27 February 2023, Fardin Rostamnezhad suffered a spinal cord injury as a result of gunfire from border guards in Nowsud.

On 9 January 2024, Farshad Rostamnezhad was shot while working as a kolbar in the same region and sustained head injuries from multiple pellets fired from shotguns.
