Security forces arrested Abdollah Barzegar, the Imam and prayer leader of the village of Kaneh Mashkeh of Sardasht, West Azerbaijan Province, on 7 May and took him to an undisclosed location.
The Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN) has learned that security forces raided Barzegar’s home at 03:00 local time on 7 May and arrested him without a judicial warrant.
The specific charges against the Sunni Kurdish cleric and his current whereabouts have not yet been disclosed.
