Arman Ghafouri, a civil activist detained by security forces in Mariwan on July 24, 2018, was temporarily released on bail after four months of arrest.
Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN) has been informed that Arman Ghafouri, a student of Payam Noor University and a member of the Chiyay sabz Association of Mariwan, was temporarily released on bail from Mariwan Prison on Monday, December 10.
He was transferred to the Sanandaj IRGC Detention Centre after being arrested and transferred to the Mariwan Prison after 3 months of interrogation on Oct 31, 2018.
In the last two weeks, he has been unable to meet with his family in prison. Prior to this date, he was denied the right to contact and visit his family for more than 3 months. There is no information about the allegations against the said person so far, but the prosecutor’s office of Mariwan has announced the possibility of a court hearing over the next few months.
One month after the civil activist was arrested, a number of news sites reported that he was being tortured but his family denied this news later.
Arman Ghafouri, the secretary of the Ginghage Association at Payam Noor University of Marivan and a member of the Chiyay Sabz association, was arrested on July 24, 2018 after a gathering in protest to the Turkey′s Attack on Kurds in Afrin along with ten other civil activists in Mariwan. The other ten detainees were later released on a bail of five million Tomans.
