Branch 101 of the Second Criminal Court in Bukan, West Azerbaijan province, recently sentenced civilian Ali Gol-Mohammadi to 22 months in prison.

The court charged the civilian with “acting against national security” on the grounds that he was a member of a Kurdish opposition party.

On 15 January, security forces arrested Gol-Mohammadi in Bukan without a court order.

After initial interrogations, he was transferred to the city prison and released on 16 February on bail of 3 billion Iranian rials – almost 6,000 USD.

The civilian was denied access to a lawyer and family visits during interrogation.
