During the past month, three Sunni Kurdish prisoners have been sentenced to 12 years of imprisonment in total by the Revolutionary Court/branch 1 and 2 of Orumiyeh.

‘Ayoub Lalsorkh, a political prisoner held in Ward 14 of Orumiyeh Central Prison, was arrested by security forces in the summer of 2016 and interrogated for 12 days on charges of cooperating with a Kurdish party. He was transferred to the Orumiyeh Central Prison after completing the interrogations. He was temporarily released on a bail of 500 million Iranian Tomans. In February 2017, Lalsorkh went on trial at the Revolutionary Court of Orumiyeh headed by judge Chabok and was sentenced to two years of imprisonment on charges of cooperation with one of the Kurdish parties. After confirming this verdict in June 2017 by the Appeal Court of Orumiyeh/Branch 10, he was arrested and transferred to prison’, a reliable source told the Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN).

‘Bashir Pirmavanah, another Kurdish political prisoner detained in ward 13, was arrested by security forces in Orumiyeh in February 2016 and interrogated for a month at the detention centre of the Intelligence Ministry in Orumieh. He was later taken to the Orumiyeh Central Prison. .In May 2017, he went on trial at the Revolutionary Court of Orumiyeh/branch2 headed by judge Sheikhloo and was sentenced to five years of imprisonment on charges of cooperation with one of the Kurdish parties. The verdict was served on him last week in prison’, the source said.

’Chia Nikvand, a Kurdish religious prisoner detained in ward 14, was arrested last December by security forces in Orumiyeh. He was interrogated for four months at the detention centre of the Intelligence Ministry in Orumiyeh on charges of membership in religious extremist groups. Then, he was transferred to the Orumiyeh Central Prison and his trial was held in June this year at Branch 2 of the Revolutionary Court in Orumiyeh. He was sentenced to 5 years of imprisonment on charges of membership in religious extremist groups. The verdict was officially served on him on Saturday, July 1, 2017 in prison.’
