Two Kurdish political prisoners from Kurdistan of Turkey and Syria were handed over to the government forces of the two countries after serving 10 years in prison.

An informed source told Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN) that two political prisoners known as Ramazan Ahmed Kamal (from Kobane in Kurdistan of Syria) and “Farhan Chalesh” (from Shernax in Kurdistan of Turkey), both sentenced to 10 years in prison with exile in a joint case on charges of membership in the Kurdistan Workers’ Party, have been handed over to the Syrian and Turkey governments respectively. 

The source added that, only two days before the day he was supposed to be released from prison, Ahmed Kamal was summoned to the guardhouse of Qazvin Central Prison from where he was transferred to the Intelligence Ministry’s Detention Centre in the city of Orumiyeh blindfolded and without being allowed to even collect his personal belongings. Then He was transferred to Damascus from Tehran Imam Khomeini airport at 20:15 A.M. (with Mahan Air flight).

Meanwhile, another prisoner, Farhan Chalesh who was serving his sentence in Zanjan’s central prison, was transferred to the Intelligence Ministry’s Detention Centre of Orumiyeh at the border of Bazargan and was handed over to the security services of the Turkish government.

Ramazan Ahmad Kamal (born in 1979 and from Syria) and Farhan Chalesh (born in 1987 from Turkey) were arrested by Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) forces while wounded n 2008 when they said they had entered the Iranian territory mistakenly. 

The prisoners were then admitted to the Maku Hospital for five days before being transferred by the IRGC forces  in Orumiyeh despite the need for special care.

After 14 days of interrogation at the Detention Centre, the two political prisoners were transferred to central prison of Maku for four months, after which the Revolutionary Court of Khoy (Branch 1) headed by the judge “Nowruzi” sentenced them to death on the charge of membership in the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK),.  “Farhan Chalesh” was only 17 years old when sentenced to death.

Both of these political prisoners contested the death sentence which the Supreme Court reduced to 10 years in prison with exile. “Ramadan Ahmad Kamal”  and “Farhan Chalesh” spent their 10 year prison sentence at tje central prison of Qazvin and Zanjan central prison respectively.

During the ten years of their imprisonment, these two political prisoners were deprived of access to any right to medical treatment, contact and family visits.
