Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN): Faramarz Mamadi, Nezam Heydari and Matin Khaledi were released over the past few days upon the leniency shown by Iran Judiciary from Salmas and Orumiyeh central prison respectively.

Nezam Heydari, a Kurdish civilian and resident of the village of Dirak of Salmas, was arrested by security forces in Salman in the spring of 2016 and sentenced to life imprisonment by judge Hassanzadeh at the Salmas Revolutionary Court on charges of Moharebeh. His sentence was later reduced to 15 years in prison in a retrial at the Revolutionary Court of Khoy. He was released last week after spending nearly six years in prison.

Meanwhile, Faramarz Mamadi, another Kurdish civilian and a resident of Dirk village, was arrested in spring 2016 and was released on bail after serving 40 days at one of the security detention centres of the Ministry of Intelligence. He was sentenced to 3 years in prison by a revolutionary court in Khoy, who was charged with collaborating with one of the Kurdish opposition parties. After confirming this ruling in the fall of 2017, he was arrested and transferred to Salmas Prison.

Matin Khalidi, a Kurdish civilian and a resident of Orumiyeh, was arrested by security forces during the protests on December 16. The trial of this citizen was held at Branch 3 of the Revolutionary Court of Orumiyeh on February 17, 2018, chaired by Judge Reza Najafzadeh. Upon contesting the verdict, the case was referred to Branch 1 of Court of Appeals which reduced the sentence of Matin Khalidi to one year in prison. He was transferred to Orumiyeh Central Prison in December to endure his term.
