26 officers and employees of the West Azerbaijan Prisons Organization had contracted Qovid-19 disease, an informed source in Orumiyeh, who did not want to be named for security reasons, has told the Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN).

According to this source, following the increase in the number of prison inmates in this province, all employees and officers of Orumiyeh Central Prison have been wearing masks since today.

The source identified 3 of these people as Khakmardan (an employee of the prison’s facilities department), Askari (prison doctor) and Qarabaghi (head of the Psychiatric Ward). These three people are currently under treatment at a hospital in Orumiyeh.

KHRN earlier published a report stating that at least five prisoners had died at Orumiyeh Central Prison since the outbreak of the coronavirus. These 4 prisoners have been identified as Fatemeh Alizadeh, Hassan Javadi, Fariq Mohammadi and Anwar Ghorbanzadeh.
