Three religious activists from Bukan- Mamosta Fayeq Shariatpanah, Taher Sheikhi and Amanj Hamzehzadeh– were transferred to Orumiyeh Central Prison after more than 40 days in detention, reliable sources told the Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN).

These people were transferred to the prison quarantine on Sunday, Sept 13, 2020, and then they were transferred to the Political and Religious Prisoners ward four days later.

An informed source in an interview with KHRN stated that these people were accused of “membership in the Ansar al-Sunnah group” and added that Mamousta Fayeq Shariat was the Friday prayer leader of Amirabad Bukan village, Taher Sheikhi was a teacher and Amanj Hamzehzadeh was a religious student.

KHRN recently reported the arrest of at least 12 religious activists in Bukan last month.
