Three Kurdish political prisoners ‘Keyvan Rashuzadeh, Kamran Ghasemi, and Omid Saeedi’ have gone on a hunger strike in protest to the uncertainty of their situation, pressure from the Intelligence Office, and failure of authorities to comply with the principle of Segregation of Crimes in the youth ward of Orumiyeh Central Prison.

An informed source in Orumiyeh told the Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN) that “these three political prisoners have been detained for about 13 months and during this time they have repeatedly protested against their detention in the youth ward and the pressure of the Intelligence Office. They have also gone on a hunger strike twice before, demanding the transfer to political prisoners ward.”

According to this source, after more than 13 months, the above-mentioned people are still in prison. Therefore, they have been on hunger strike since 10 Nov. in protest against the continuing uncertainty of their case, the pressure of the special office of the Intelligence Office in prison and failure of authorities to comply with the principle of Separation of Crimes.

The three prisoners had previously gone on a hunger strike on February 2020, along with four other political prisoners in the youth ward, demanding the allocation of a separate cell to the non-political prisoners in the youth ward. One day after the strike began, clashes happened between ordinary political prisoners and ordinary prisoners by the provocation of prison officers.

Following this clash, Kamran Ghasemi and Kamran Darvishi were transferred to solitary confinement in handcuffs. Kamran Ghasemi, Keyvan Rashuzadeh and Omid Saeedi, along with two other civilians named Naib Hajipour and Abdolaziz Mohammadpour, were detained on October 7, 2019, by security forces and then transferred to Orumiyeh Intelligence Office Detention Center.

After a month of interrogation, these civilians were transferred to the youth ward of Orumiyeh Central Prison. Naeb Hajipour and Abdolaziz Mohammadpour are currently being held in dormitories 1-2  and 3 respectively.
