Imprisoned Kurdish athlete Parham Parvari, who was arrested during the recent anti-government protests in Tehran, was transferred from the Greater Tehran Central Penitentiary to Evin Prison on 9 April.

The Security Prosecutor’s Office located in Evin Prison has charged Parvari with “enmity against God” (moharebeh), which carries the death penalty in Iran, for his participation in the protests.

The protester’s trial was scheduled for 10 April, at Branch 28 of the Islamic Revolutionary Court of Tehran, but it has been postponed for unknown reasons.

Security forces arrested Parvari, 25, on 3 October 2022 and took him to the detention centre of the Ministry of Intelligence at Ward 209 of Evin Prison.

Security forces severely tortured him at the time of arrest, the signs of which are still visible on his body.

The young man was also pressured and threatened during interrogations at Evin Prison to make forced “confessions”.

Parvari was transferred from Evin Prison to the Greater Tehran Central Penitentiary on 4 January after initial interrogations.
