Kurdish female political prisoner Sakineh Parvaneh has been taken to a security office on the pretext of being transferred to a medical facility at 2300 local time on 24 February, but has been relocated to an unknown place, sources told the Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN).
On 14 December 2020, Parvaneh was transferred from the prison of Quchan, where her family resides, to the female prison in Mashhad for unknown reasons. She was held in the quarantine ward 6 of this prison and was denied the right to visits and access to fresh air.
Before her transfer to Mashhad, Parvaneh went on hunger strike for 20 days in November, after authorities in Quchan Prison had told her about a possible internal exile to Isfahan Prison. The prisoner sewed her lips for several days during her strike and was beaten by security forces.
Earlier in April, Parvaneh was transferred from solitary confinement in Qarchak Prison in Varamin to Aminabad Psychiatric Hospital in Rey and was kept there for a month in harsh conditions, despite doctors’ advice to return her to prison. Parvaneh is a Kurdish civilian born in 1988 in Quchan city of Khorasan-e Razavi province.
Parvaneh had previously published a letter on 25 June describing the detention process and the harassments she had gone through during her imprisonment. According to this letter, the security agents of the Islamic Republic of Iran had arrested her on 6 November 2019 under the pretext of meeting her family in the city of Sulaimaniyah in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. After that she had been taken to the Iran-Iraq border and held in the detention centres of Marivan and Sanandaj for 10 days. She had then been transferred to a secret detention centre of the Intelligence Organisation of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) in eastern Tehran. She had spent three months in detention under the harshest conditions of interrogation and physical torture in a secret detention centre of the IRGC in Tehran.
Parvaneh’s lawyer Payam Derafshan said on 25 May 2020 that his client had been sentenced to five years in prison and three years ban from membership in political groups on charges of “membership in groups or factions opposing the state with the aim of disrupting national security”.
In April 2020, Parvaneh had been transferred from Evin Prison to Qarchak prison in Varamin for writing and chanting slogans. After four days in solitary confinement in this prison, she was transferred to Aminabad Psychiatric Hospital in Rey. She was returned to Evin Prison again on 4 July with bruises and beating marks on her body. Later, a court sentenced Parvaneh to two years in prison in August on charges of “disrupting the prison order”.
This political prisoner has been held in Evin Prison in Tehran, Qarchak Prison in Varamin, Quchan Prison, and Mashhad Prison since her arrest.
