Three prisoners convicted of drug-related offences were executed today in Orumiyeh Central Prison, West Azerbaijan Province.

The prisoners, identified as Abdollah Hassanzadeh, Hassan Choupani and Hassan Arabi, were transferred to solitary confinement for execution on 7 May.

Arabi, from the village of Anbi in Orumiyeh, had been arrested about three years ago and sentenced to death for “drug trafficking”.

Similarly, Choupani, from the village of Shahrestan in Piranshahr, and Hassanzadeh, from the village of Yangejeh, faced similar charges and were also sentenced to death in separate cases.

Additionally, on 7 May, prisoner Hassan Moharrer was executed at the same time as these three prisoners were taken to solitary confinement.
