An Iranian security-intelligence institution continues to refuse to provide medical treatment to a Kurdish fighter injured and detained during a clash on 14 May.

Iranian border forces had ambushed a group of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) members and injured Adem Ozkan, a party member from Turkey, in Oshnavieh, West Azerbaijan province.

Reportedly, Ozkan is held without medical treatment in the detention facility of the Intelligence Organisation of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) in Orumiyeh, West Azerbaijan province.

The PKK member was severely injured in his hands, feet, and face.

After his arrest, Ozkan was first transferred to IRGC’s Arefian Hospital in Orumiyeh. After 17 days, while his treatment was not yet completed, he was transferred to the quarantine ward of Orumiyeh Central Prison.

On 13 October, he was handed over to the Intelligence Organisation of the IRGC in Orumiyeh for interrogation. Since then, he has been held in solitary confinement in the detention centre of this security institution.

On 17 September 17, the border commander of West Azerbaijan province, in an interview with Iranian state media, confirmed the armed clash and announced the arrest of two injured people.
