Anti-riot forces shot and killed a 16-year-old child named Amir Hossein Basati during the public protests held in Kermanshah, western Iran, on 21 September, over the murder of Mahsa (Zhina) Amini.

A relative of the teenager told the Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN) that he was shot dead from a close range around Modarres Street in Kermanshah.

The source said the family initially did not know where their child was and they went to the police station, prison and court for days but did not receive any response.

The family later realized that the child who had been shot in a video posted on social media was Basati himself.

The teenager’s body was handed over to his family on 29 September and was buried in the Darkhor Hassanabad village of Eslamabad.

The investigations carried out by the KHRN indicate that the anti-riot and paramilitary Basij forces have killed at least four children named Zakariya Khiyal, Abdollah Mahmoudpour, Amin Marefat and Amir Hossein Basati Piranshahr, the Balu village of Orumiyeh, Oshnavieh and Kermanshah since the beginning of the nationwide protests.

The total number of people who lost their lives in the protests in West Azerbaijan, Kurdistan, Kermanshah and Ilam provinces has reached 21 so far.
