Prisoners Amin Khorshidi and Akbar Farrokhi, previously sentenced to death for “premeditated murder”, were transferred to solitary confinement for execution in Orumiyeh Central Prison in West Azerbaijan Province on 6 November.

Their execution was scheduled for the morning of 7 November unless the families of the victims agree to a pardon, the Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN) has learned.

Khorshidi, a Kurdish civilian from the village of Nergi in Orumiyeh, has been imprisoned for almost 14 years on charges of “premeditated murder”.

Farrokhi, an Azerbaijani Turkic civilian from Orumiyeh, was arrested about four years ago on similar charges.
