Farzad Khademi, a prisoner convicted of "premeditated murder", was executed today in Saqqez Prison, in Kurdistan Province. He was transferred to solitary confinement on 23 April in preparation for his execution. Khademi, from of Saqqez, was arrested in July 2020 and sentenced to death under the Islamic law of qisas, or retribution-in-kind, which gives the victim’s family the right to retaliate.

Jamal Mardani, a 54-year-old prisoner from Miandoab, West Azerbaijan Province, was executed on 21 April for drug-related offences in Kerman Central Prison, Kerman Province. The prisoner was transferred to solitary confinement for the execution on 19 April. Mardani, a father of four from the village of Gug Jalu in Miandoab, was arrested about four years ago.

Prisoner Mansour Mansouri, previously sentenced to death for murder, was executed in Ilam Central Prison on 11 March. The Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN) had reported the execution of another prisoner, Moein Salavarzizadeh, in Ilam Central Prison on the same day.
