Kurdish civilian Bahman Naderi was briefly detained on 28 January for his social media posts calling for a boycott of the upcoming elections in Iran.

The Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN) has learned that Naderi was summoned to Branch Four of the Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor’s Office in Kermanshah, Kermanshah Province, and charged with “propaganda against the state”.

Following his arraignment, the Kurdish civilian was released on bail of 4 billion rials – nearly 8,000 USD.

Naderi had previously been arrested by agents of the Intelligence Organisation of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) in Kermanshah on 12 September 2023, on the eve of the anti-government uprising of Women Life Freedom.

After a week in detention, he was provisionally released on bail amounting to 5 billion rials – nearly 10,000 USD.

Naderi was later tried on 28 October 2023 at Branch One of the Islamic Revolutionary Court in Kermanshah on charges of “propaganda against the state” for his activities on social media and a call to participate in the commemoration of the Women Life Freedom uprising.
