Three Kurdish civilians have been arrested in the scope of the recent mass arrests in Iranian Kurdistan. Also, two detained civilians have been imprisoned in the past few days.

Security forces have arrested civilians Zanko Masoudi, Saadi Menbari, and Siyamak Menbari during house raids in the Malqarani village of Saqqez and the Niyar village of Sanandaj in Kurdistan province on 5 December.

The forces searched the houses of the civilians and took them to an undisclosed location.

The arrests were made without a court order. The charges against the civilians are also unknown.

The Ministry of Intelligence has launched a new wave of arrests of Kurdish civilians and activists on 11 November, detaining at least 36 people in Baneh, Saqez, Marivan, and Sanandaj in Kurdistan province.

Furthermore, so far, only two civilians named Abdolrahman Ashtak and Abdolrahman Afshar, from the village of Ney in Marivan, have been transferred from the detention centre of the intelligence ministry in Marivan to the city prison after spending three weeks in detention.

The two civilians are accused of “collaboration with a Kurdish opposition party”.

Detainees are denied lawyers, family visits

The rest of the detainees continue to be held in the detention facilities of the ministry in Baneh, Saqqez, Sanandaj, and Marivan.

All detainees have been denied the right to family visits and having lawyers.

Several civilians and activists detained in Baneh have made short telephone calls to their families. They said that they were held in the detention facilities of the intelligence ministry in Baneh and Sanandaj.

New administration behind arrest wave

Reportedly, the wave of summons and detentions began with new appointments to the administration of the Ministry of Intelligence in the province.

Due to the atmosphere of terror created by the detention of Kurdish civilians in the villages of Choman, Namshir, Najneh, and Kupich in Baneh, some civilians have fled their homes for fear of being detained en masse by security forces.
