Iranian intelligence agency arrested a Kurdish civilian over posting a photo of Heydar Ghorbani, a recently executed Kurdish political prisoner, online.

The Intelligence Organisation of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) detained Kianoush Rahmani in Kamyaran, Kurdistan province, on 27 December.

Security forces attempted to arrest the Kurdish civilian’s family house in the village of Lown-e Sadat in Kamyaran.

However, they did not find him at home. The forces also searched the house and disrespected family members.

On 27 December, Rahmani presented himself to the Intelligence Organisation of the IRGC.

The Kurdish civilian who lives in Tehran had returned to his hometown of Lown’e Sadat to visit his family.

Reportedly, the intelligence agency said that Rahmani had been detained for publishing Heydar Ghorbani’s photo on his Instagram account.

Iran secretly carried out the death sentence of the Kurdish political prisoner Heydar Ghorbani in Sanandaj Central Prison on 19 December.

In the past few days, security forces arrested at least four other Kurdish civilians and activists named Mohammad Mirza Rahmani, Amanj Ghorbani, Sirvan Ghorbani, and Borhan Kamangar, for attending the executed Kurdish political prisoner’s funeral.
