Iran has released on bail seven civilians detained during the recent wave of arrests of Kurdish civilians and activists in northwestern Kurdistan province.

Civilians Farhad Pezeshki, Karim Forouzesh, Vafa Pezeshki, Ahmad Pezeshki, Loghman Pezeshki, Osman Mohammadpour, and Kamran Pezeshki were released from Sanandaj Central Prison on 2 January.

They have each been released on a bail of 200 million Iranian Tomans – nearly 8,000 USD – after 50 days of detention.

These individuals had been transferred to the Sanandaj Central Prison in the past few days after the end of their interrogation periods in the detention centre of the Ministry of Intelligence in Sanandaj.

On 11 November, the Ministry of Intelligence launched a fresh wave of arrests of Kurdish civilians and activists in Kurdistan province.

In the scope of the mass arrests, the ministry arrested at least 42 people in Baneh, Saqqez, Marivan, Kamyaran, and Sanandaj. So far, at least 14 of these detainees have been released on bail.

Separately, the Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN) sources have reported that at least 30 Kurdish civilians and activists detained by security forces in the last two months in the cities of Baneh, Saqqez, Marivan, Kamyaran, and Sanandaj are being held in detention facility of the intelligence ministry in Sanandaj.
