Iranian border guard forces killed a 29-year-old kolbar identified as Hazhar Faraji in the border area of Sard Ab in Baneh, Kurdistan province, on 7 August.
The kolbar was targeted from close range and without prior warning.
The killing of the kolbar comes a few days after the commander of Iran’s Border Guard Command threatened to “deal harshly” with kolbars in Baneh.
A few days ago, during a visit to Baneh border posts, the commander of border forces said: “Baneh borders from Haftash to Barvishkani will be closed in the next two months and we have ordered that no one should cross the border without permission of the border guards. If anyone violates the law, they will be treated harshly.”
