A Kurdish resident of Bukan arrested during the November protests in Iran was forced to make a false confession, and transferred to the Orumiyeh Central Prison following her interrogation, a close relative of the detainee told the Kurdistan Human Rights Network.

Fatemeh Davand was arrested in Bukan on 17 November and transferred to the detention centre of the Ministry of Intelligence in Orumiyeh. She was under pressure for 10 days to make forced confessions and she finally attended a TV interview broadcasted by the Islamic Republic of Iran.

The court has issued a 500 million bail for Davand release after transferring her to the female ward of Orumiyeh Central Prison. However, she remains in prison since her family cannot afford securing the bail.

In response to a request by Davand’s family to reduce the bail amount, the court has announced that her bail warrant has been changed to temporary custody.

Fatemeh Davand, a mother of three, has been able to visit her family only once in custody since her arrest.
