Kurdish Singer Peyman Mirzazadeh was conditionally released from prison obtaining the agreement of the Orumiyeh prison authorities on Tuesday, September 01.

He served more than 19 months of his two-year sentence, a reliable source told the Kurdistan Human Right Network (KHRN).

He went on a hunger strike for several days in March in protest to his disapproval of his request for conditional release.

Peyman Mirzazadeh, a Kurdish singer from the village of Gangchin in Orumiyeh, was arrested by security forces in Orumiyeh on February 21, 2019, and he was transferred to the Orumiyeh Central Prison after four days of interrogation.

On March 3, 2017, he was sentenced by Branch 1 of the Revolutionary Court of Orumiyeh to ‘life ban from singing’ and two years in prison on charges of “acting against national security by collaborating with a Kurdish opposition party.” His sentence was reduced to one year and eight months per the law of Submission to the Verdict.

Mirzazadeh was sentenced to 2 years in prison and 100 lashes on June 10, 2018, in another case on charges of “Blasphemy” by Branch 110 of the Orumiyeh Public Court. His flogging sentence was carried out on August 27, 2018, at Branch 4 of the Orumiyeh Public Court.
