A fight has broken out among prisoners of Ward 3 of Orumiyeh Central Prison during the distribution of food rations (watermelons) on 25 July. A prisoner named Davoud Heydari has lost his life after suffering severe injuries in the fight, sources told the KHRN.
The prisoner was taken to a hospital outside the prison and died a few hours later.
Security forces had arrested Heydari about two months ago over general crimes. He was then transferred to Orumiyeh Central Prison.
Reportedly, once every three weeks, a specific type of fruit is served together with food among the prisoners. Improper distribution of limited food rations by prison officials sometimes leads to fights among prisoners.
Less than a month ago, on 14 July, while food rations were distributed, a prisoner named Karim Babaei lost his life after he was injured in the head due to a fight between prisoners.
