Iranian authorities have executed five prisoners, including four convicted of drug-related charges and one for “premeditated murder”, in Orumiyeh Central Prison and Ghezel Hesar Prison in Karaj, the Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN) has learned.

Asaad Farhang, a father of three from Saqqez, Kurdistan Province, was transferred to solitary confinement in Orumiyeh Central Prison on 9 October, and executed at dawn on 10 October.

On 10 October, the KHRN published a report confirming the execution of at least two prisoners in this prison.

Farhang was arrested about nine years ago on charges of “premeditated murder” and sentenced to death.

Also, on 9 October, at least four other prisoners – Sattar Khosravi, Kamran Saghaei, Ahmad Narouei, and Mohammad Eshaghzahi – were executed in Ghezel Hesar Prison in Karaj, Alborz Province.

Khosravi, a Kurdish prisoner from Harsin, Kermanshah Province; Saghaei, a Lor prisoner from Pol-e Dokhtar, Lorestan Province; and two Baluchi prisoners, Narouei and Eshaghzahi from Zahedan, Sistan and Baluchestan Province, were arrested on drug-related charges and sentenced to death.
