Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN) has been informed that a Kurdish civil activist ‘Sirus Abbasi‘ has been released on a bail of 200 million tomans from the Ministry of Intelligence Detention Centre in Sanandaj on March 19.

He was interrogated in solitary confinement during this time and he was deprived of contact with his family.

Sirus Abbasi and his wife “Farideh Weissi” were detained by security forces at their workplace (Zanest school) in Dehgolan on the evening of January 14. 

Farideh Weissi was released on March 16, after a 6-day hunger strike at the Correctional Centre in Sanandaj.  Azad Abbasi, Sirus’s brother, and several other environmental activists were also detained by the security forces. Azad Abbasi was released on March 08 on a bail of 200 million tomans upon the completion of the investigation related to his case.
