Iranian border guards have shot and killed a kolbar named Ghobad Rahmani in the ​​Naw Ghopi border area of Sarpol-e Zahab in Kermanshah province on Wednesday night, 26 May.

Speaking to the Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN), a source close to the kolbar’s family said: “At 12 o’clock on Wednesday night, 26 May, a group of kolbars, who were not carrying any goods, were shot by border guards in Naw Ghopi border area in Sarpol-e Zahab, as a result of which Ghobad Rahmani has been killed.”

According to this source, Ghobad Rahmani, 27, was the father of two children and a resident of Ramaki village in Sarpol-e Zahab.

The kolbar’s body has not yet been delivered to his family.

The border guards claim that he was carrying “smuggled goods” and that his friends should deliver those goods to the border guards, the source added.
