Civilian Mehdi Sadeghi, who was arrested by security forces about three weeks ago for the second time in the past few months, remains in a temporary detention centre in Ilam, in a state of uncertainty regarding his case.
After spending several days in the detention centre of the Ministry of Intelligence in Ilam, Sadeghi was transferred to a temporary detention centre in the city, Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN) has learned.
Sadeghi was detained on 12 October 2022 during the recent anti-government protests in Ilam.
After his arrest, he was taken to the Ministry of Intelligence detention facility in the city, where he was interrogated and tortured for five days, Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN) has learned.
After the interrogation, he was transferred to Ilam Central Prison.
On 23 November, he was released on a bail of 300 million Tomans – nearly 7,000 USD.
In early February, the Branch 103 of the Criminal Court of Ilam, in western Iran, sentenced Kurdish civilian Mehdi Sadeghi to six months in prison, 74 lashes, and a two-year ban on leaving the country on charges of “disrupting public order and peace”.
Another lawsuit has been filed against the civilian at the Islamic Revolutionary Court of Ilam on charges of “insulting sanctities”, “disrupting public opinion” and “acting against national security”.
