Sources have told the Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN) that 11 Kurdish activists, who were detained during the wave of arrests of Kurdish civilians and activists launched by the Iranian government on 9 January 2021, have been released on bail.


Reportedly, on 7 March, activists Azimeh Naseri, Farhad Musapour, Fereydoun Musapour, Bahman Yousefzadeh, Afshin Mam-Ahmadi, Soran Hosseinzadeh, Sirwan Nouri, and Shapol Khezripour were released on bail from Orumiyeh Central Prison.


These activists had been arrested by the forces of the Intelligence Organisation of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) in Bukan, Rabat, Mahabad on 9 January and transferred to the detention centre of the IRGC in Al-Mahdi base in Orumiyeh.


On 8 March, three more activists named Keyvan Andar, Siyavash Eini, and Hossein Gardeshi were released on bail from Orumiyeh Central Prison.


Keyvan Andar, who is an English language student at the University of Tabriz, was arrested in late January. Siavash Eini, an elementary school teacher, was arrested on 31 January, and Hossein Gardeshi, who is a civil activist, on 9 January. They were arrested by forces of the Intelligence Organisation of the IRGC in Mahabad and Bukan.


More than 100 people were arrested in various cities with the start of the widespread arrests of Kurdish civilians and activists on 9 January 2021. According to the information available to the KHRN, at least 43 of these people have, so far, been released on bail, and at least 40 detainees are still being held in the detention centres of the Intelligence Office and the Intelligence Organisation of the IRGC in Orumiyeh, Sanandaj, and Marivan.
