A military convoy of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) forces comprised of local people, in cooperation with the IRGC’s Saberin Unit, have yesterday besieged and bombarded orchards in the areas near Sure Tu and Dezavan villages of Sarvabad, Kurdistan province, under the pretext of the presence of a team of a Kurdish opposition party.

Reportedly, several people whose identities are currently unknown were killed as a result of these bombardments, and their bodies have been taken to the IRGC’s base in Sarvabad.

Moreover, some of the orchards in the area have caught fire after the shelling.

An eyewitness that spoke to the Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN) said the offensive took place at around 3:00 PM on 15 June. “While banning the movement of residents, they started shelling the area and hit it with a hail of bullets.”

According to the witness, a large part of the orchards and pastures that belong to the people caught fire as a result of the shelling, and the IRGC forces prevented the people from controlling the spread of the fire.

The source added that the security atmosphere continued today and that a large number of IRGC forces were present in the area. “It is said that the bodies of several people whose identities are unknown, and are possibly members of a Kurdish opposition party, have been transferred to the IRGC base in Sarvabad.”

Saberin Unit or Saberin Takavar Brigade is an elite Iranian special force functioning under the IRGC. This unit takes part in both domestic and overseas operations of the Iranian Armed Forces.
