Dozens of agents of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Intelligence Organisation raided a house in Mahabad, West Azerbaijan Province, on 15 September and arrested Kurdish activists Ashkan Fahim and Reza Andisheh.

They forced their way into the house, breaking doors and windows, and arrested the activists after brutally beating and hitting them with rifle butts, causing serious injuries and bleeding, the Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN) has learned.

A source who spoke to the KHRN said the raid took place at 04:00 local time after “more than 60 armed forces” from the IRGC’s Intelligence Organisation surrounded an alleyway near the city’s Independence Square.

Ashkan Fahim, a writer, and Reza Andisheh, a civil rights activist, are both residents of Mahabad.

There is no information about the charges brought against them.
