Houshyar Babaei, a Kurdish journalist and owner of the Dangi Kurdistan newspaper in Sanandaj, Kurdistan Province, was summoned to the Ministry of Intelligence office in the city on 18 September and interrogated for four hours about his journalistic activities.

Babaei’s colleagues at Dangi Kurdistan, who for the past eight years have covered issues such as social damage, violence against women, kolbars, child labour and landmine victims in Kurdistan, have been repeatedly summoned, interrogated and detained by the security services.
