One kolbar died of frostbite, while at least eight other kolbars were shot and injured by Iranian border guards in the border areas of Piranshahr, West Azerbaijan Province, and Nowsud, Kermanshah Province, in recent days, the Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN) has learned.

The body of Saeid Salousi, a 33-year-old father of one from Piranshahr, West Azerbaijan Province, who went missing in the mountainous area of Piranshahr on 25 March due to freezing conditions, was discovered by volunteers in the heights of Qizqapan on 27 March.

Additionally, on 26 March, Iranian border guards opened fire at close range and without warning on a group of kolbars in the Nowsud border area of Kermanshah Province, wouding kolbars Mohammad Yousefi, Mohammad Mahmoudi, Ehsan Nazari, Omid Shamsi, Yasin (surname unknown), Saman Rostami and Gholamreza Feyzi.

Also on 25 March, border guards in Nowsud targeted Reza Nazari, a kolbar, with blank bullets at close range, leaving him with burns on his face.

According to KHRN statistics, in the past week alone, Iranian border guards shot dead two kolbars, Soran Abdi and Peyman Ahmadi, and wounded at least 10 kolbars in the border areas of Baneh, Kurdistan Province, and Nowsud.

During this period, Hastiyar Abdolkarimi, a child kolbar from Divandarreh, Kurdistan Province, and Saeid Salousi from Piranshahr died of frostbite, while Mohammad Bayer Mohammadi died of a heart attack while working as a kolbar in the border areas of Saqqez, Kurdistan Province, Piranshahr and Nowsud.
