Jafar (Dara) Amini, a Kurdish civil rights activist and former political prisoner, was arrested by security forces at his family home in Bukan, West Azerbaijan Province, on 15 June and taken to an undisclosed location.

Security forces raided Amini’s family home and arrested him without a warrant, the Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN) has learned.

Despite the family’s requests to the security authorities and the Bukan court, no information has been provided on Amini’s whereabouts or condition.

Amini was previously detained by security forces on 14 March 2018, during a protest rally in Bukan against the Turkish army’s attack on Afrin. He was released on bail on 17 April 2018.

In June 2018, Amini was sentenced to six months in prison by the Islamic Revolutionary Court in Orumiyeh, West Azerbaijan Province, on charges of “propaganda against the state”.
