The Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN) has launched a new section of its database of political and religious prisoners, marking the 10th anniversary of the organisation’s founding.

Known as “Hiwa”, the initiative aims to document the cases of Kurdish political and religious prisoners and detainees in Iran.

In its initial phase, Hiwa features the names and details of more than 100 individuals, providing an overview of their arrests, legal proceedings, and imprisonment.

However, KHRN plans to expand the database to cover more cases, including those of past prisoners.

Hiwa allows users to search prisoners’ profiles using various criteria, including name, gender, field of activity, date of arrest, charges, place of birth and place of detention.

The database is currently accessible in both Persian and English, with a Kurdish version expected to be launched soon.

As in the past 10 years, the KHRN has built this collection on professional and ethical principles, based on a commitment to truth and the pursuit of justice.

We, the KHRN, launched Hiwa in the hope of securing the freedom of prisoners, although unfortunately two prisoners – Kamran Sheikh and Reza Rasaei – were inhumanely executed during the preparation of the database after unjust trials.

KHRN urges everyone to help complete the database of Kurdish political and religious prisoners in Iran.

If you or someone close to you has experienced detention or imprisonment in the prisons or detention centres of the Islamic Republic of Iran, please provide us with the necessary information using the form available on Hiwa.

We assure you that all information submitted will be rigorously verified, with the safety of those involved being a priority.

The Kurdistan Human Rights Network is an independent, non-profit, and nonpartisan organisation registered in France since 2014.

The activities of this organisation focus on the two areas of education and promotion of human rights principles and values, as well as reporting and documenting human rights violations in Kurdistan/Iran.
